Hudson Valley Tree & Stump Removal
Welcome to Hudson Valley Tree, the professional arborists you’ve been looking for near you in the Hudson Valley including Orange County, Dutchess County, and Ulster County. Whether you’re looking for tree removal, emergency storm damage help, or the regular nurturing work of trimming and pruning we are the tree people for you.
We are tree people, root, trunk, bough and branch to the tips of our leaves and with that we can advise you on how best to care for your trees but we also take care of the sad but necessary work of removing trees and curbing some of their excessive growth. Having trees is a privilege but we know as well as anyone that some trees just don’t fit where they are, some construction and redevelopment (including replanting) means they have to be changed and sometimes they’re just in the way and need trimming back a bit. We take care of all of that with our tree care and tree removal services.
We’ll help you choose what trees to plant and get them going for you as saplings if that’s what you need but a lot of our services revolve around full grown trees and there’s a good reason for that. A lot of trees are planted without long term understanding of how they will grow. There are trees that just got too big for the space allocated to them. There are trees that were planted too close to property, there are trees that suck up all the water in the yard and compete too aggressively with other plants. Then there are trees that through no fault of their own now find themselves in new developments with different needs. We are there to help shape those trees to your plans, remove them when that can’t be done, and repurpose land for new projects - and hopefully new trees. So the following are a few of our most popular services but if you don’t see what you want, and what you want is about trees then give us a call and let’s talk about it.
Tree Trimming & Pruning
Stump Removal & Grinding
When it’s time to remove a tree it’s time to call in the experts. Maybe the tree has just become too big for the space it lives in, maybe it’s become unsafe over time. Perhaps it blocks out the light and no amount of pruning is going to make that trunk go away. Whatever the reason, removing a tree is a job best left to the professional arborists. It’s not just the height of trees, or the remarkable weight of a full grown tree trunk, but also the need for systematic removal of sections in order to do it safely. You wouldn’t get an amateur to demolish a tower block, you don’t want an amateur removing a tree from your property.
Trees are constantly growing and that means they need trimming. We can schedule regular maintenance visits to keep those trees in perfect trim for you, or we can talk about pruning. Pruning is in a different league to trimming because it looks to change the entire way a tree grows. That could mean thinning out the crown to encourage healthier growth with more light and air making its way to the heart of the tree. Or it could mean carefully pruning the lower branches to raise the crown of a tree out of harm’s way. It could mean pruning to increase the fruit growth, or to make a tree stronger. We can do it all but the best time of year to prune depends on the type of tree and the goal of the pruning so let’s talk.
Tree removal services typically consider the job done when the tree is down and cut to the stump. They don’t include the removal of the stump itself and often that’s all you need. There can be issues however. Stumps may rot and encourage fungi, or insects. The stumps may be in the way or provide a trip hazard. They can be ugly, or the root network can continue to cause problems long after the tree is gone. We can help you with all of those problems. We can grind the stump down mechanically to below the level of the topsoil and return the wood to you as chips ready for mulching. Or we can haul the entire stump clean out of the ground and the core of the root network with it. There are pros and cons to both. Let us explain them to you.
